It lies between the towns of Burton upon Trent and Uttoxeter, not far from the banks of the River Dove. In many ways it is an idyllic English village.<\/p>\n<p>Residents have a strong sense of community and there are good facilities including a Village Hall a Nursery and First\u00a0school, a Community Shop, a church and two pubs. As well as the main part of the village, Marchington extends to the east to an area of houses known as Forestside and to the west to include Birch Cross.\u00a0Marchington has 2 bus stops and is served by route <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midlandclassic.com\/routes-and-services\/\">402<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are many groups and societies within the village details can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/marchingtonparishcouncil.org\/links\/\">Links<\/a> page of this website.<\/p>\n<p>St Peter&#8217;s is the local Parish Church for Marchington and dates back to 1742. Regular services are held more details can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/stpetersmarchington.org.uk\/\">here<\/a> on the church website<\/p>\n<p>There is one school in the village <a href=\"http:\/\/www.st-peters-marchington.org.uk\/\">St Peter&#8217;s C of E First School<\/a>. The school runs a nursery and takes children up to year 4.\u00a0Woodlands Childcare\u00a0offer a complete package of Wrap-Around Care for children\u00a0from\u00a03 years old and\u00a0 is based at St Peter\u2019s School.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Marchington Woodlands\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-597 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/marchingtonparishcouncil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Woodroffes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"120\" \/><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The village of Marchington Woodlands has a Church and Village Hall but consists mostly of farms and properties. There are also two hamlets Scounslow Green and Gorsty Hill.<\/p>\n<p>St Johns is the local Parish Church for Marchington Woodlands and dates from 1858 Regular services and an active community keep this church a hub for this parish. More details can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marchingtonwoodlandschurch.co.uk\/\">here<\/a> on the church website.<\/p>\n<p>Although inhabitants of this area are scattered the church and <a href=\"https:\/\/marchingtonparishcouncil.org\/village-halls\/\">Village Hall<\/a> host a number of well supported events throughout the year.
